Sony's latest gadget Sony Xperia S and Xperia Ion will support dual between the Glonass satellite navigation and GPS. Both smartphones use the new Qualcomm Snapdragon chip.
Qualcomm Snapdragon chips S2 and S3 are placed two navigation technology from Russia and America. So the speed of GPS lock can be faster , it only takes half time than just rely on a satellite navigation system.
America has a GPS satellite with 31 active satellites and regulated by the U.S. Air Force, the Russian Glonass navigation system. Until October 2011 there were 24 satellites are fully employed. GPS systems require at least 4 GPS lock, sometimes the signal is hard to come by when in the middle of the city or mountain rains. With dual navigation system, the received signal can help each other simultaneously and more accurately.
4S iPhone also supports Glonass. But it was not announced by the Glonass system is activated by Apple.
